Environmental and Food Justice Trip

The Alternative Breaks Environmental and Food Justice Trip will focus on the impacts of colonial legacies and how they have contributed to present-day injustices in Oakland, CA. Through our DeCal, we will explore the history of segregation and redlining in Oakland, Indigenous-led resistance efforts, and how we as students can engage in environmental and food justice advocacy. During our trip, we will actively work with a community partner in West Oakland through food distribution, educational activities with children, and other hands-on projects that support the needs of our community partner.
